Maybe you matched on Bumble, locked eyes across the lecture hall, or threw caution to the wind boom box in hand…However you met, dates should feel exciting. Luckily, whether it's your first date or fifth anniversary, Liverpool is full of fun things to do!

Budget-Friendly Date Night Ideas in Liverpool

DIY Dates in Your Student Accommodation

Light your candles and turn on the mood lighting. Anywhere can be special with good company and a little ambience. Cooking a meal together, playing board games or having a movie night in your living room are all cost-friendly options. If one of you has a game console, why not have a Mario Kart tournament and test your skills on Rainbow Road?

The on-site entertainment facilities at your Fresh student accommodation are great date night options too. For example, our Calico property has a cinema room and a sky lounge for residents to enjoy.

Cheap Bars for a Night Out

Going for a drink is a great way to loosen up and get the chat flowing. Here are some budget-friendly bars ideal for a first date:

Modo Liverpool

Modo Liverpool offers two for £10 cocktails from Sunday to Friday, a heated outdoor space and four different club rooms where you can dance the night away.

Flanagan’s Apple

Flanagan’s Apple also does a two for £10 cocktail deal which runs from Sunday to Thursday. The venue has a room for every vibe, with a DJ booth in the basement, live music on the next level and classic pub food served on the top floor.

Daytime Dating

Sefton Park Picnic

Sefton Park has 200 acres of lush green embankments, tall trees and bench-lined paths. It’s the perfect place for a picnic date in the warmer months, or for a casual coffee and stroll. If it's too chilly outside, head over to the romantic Sefton Park Palm House which has a fountain backdrop and tropical plants in every corner.

Museums and Galleries

Museums are full of all things weird and wonderful nowadays. The Quirky Quarter Museum is full of interactive puzzle rooms, topsy-turvy spaces and brainteasers to enjoy together. You can even take photos with eccentric backdrops to remember your trip!

Liverpool has art galleries all over the city too, including the Walker Art Gallery, the Tate Liverpool and the Bluecoat Display Centre.

Romantic Cruise on the Mersey Ferries

Why not take a Mersey Ferry River Explorer Cruise? The ride lasts around 50 minutes, and you’ll learn all about the River Mersey while enjoying breathtaking views from the deck.

Paint and Sip at Pinot & Picasso

Pick a piece that you want to paint on the Pinot & Picasso website and head down to the venue on Norfolk Street. All the materials are provided for you and there’s a bar too, so you can sup away while you create your masterpiece.

Date Nights in Liverpool City Centre

Catch a Comedy Show

Liverpool has a thriving comedy scene, with a mix of intimate underground venues. The Slaughter House Saturday night comedy show has hosted everyone from Stewart Lee to Alan Carr and Sarah Millican. Meanwhile, Hot Water Comedy Club on Steele Street is open seven days a week and opens the floor to up-and-coming comedians.

Get Competitive

Let out your inner kids together and book a session at an activity bar. It’s hard to go wrong with a night at Roxy Ballroom with activities like bowling, crazy golf, shuffleboard and more. There are three Roxy Ballroom venues around Liverpool: the Cavern Quarter, School Lane and Hanover Street.

A trip to the arcade is another playful date idea. ArCains on Grafton Street is open until 10 pm during the week and you can grab pizza, hotdogs, and burgers to keep you fuelled between shootouts.

Test your Teamwork

Nothing brings you together like an adventure and the escape rooms at Escape Hunt on Albert Dock offer just that. Escape Hunt has five different quests to choose from, including Alice in Puzzleland, Escape the Wild West and Blackbeard’s Treasure.

Valentine’s Day Venues

The Alpine-themed bar Albert’s Schloss is ideal for Valentine's Day dining. The Cook Haus Breakfast is a strong way to start the day, or you can make an evening booking and enjoy a delicious fondue platter over a glass of wine for just £25.

Alcotraz: Cell Block Three-Six is a novel way to celebrate your partner in crime. Successfully smuggle your booze past the warden to the inmates at the bar who’ll turn it into cocktails for you both to enjoy.

Starting university is one of the most significant transitions a young person makes. Alongside the excitement comes something far less talked about: homesickness. Studies show that up to 70% of first-year students experience it during their first ten weeks.

The good news is that homesickness almost always fades as students build routines and connections. In the meantime, one of the most effective things you can do is transform your student flat into a space that genuinely feels like yours.

Acknowledge How You’re Feeling

Homesickness is not a weakness. Allowing yourself to feel those emotions, rather than pushing through them, is an important part of adjusting. Missing home simply means you have strong connections to the people and places you’ve come from.

If feelings become persistent or start affecting your studies, Fresh’s Student Assistance Programme, delivered in partnership with Health Assured, offers free 24/7 confidential support covering mental health and emotional wellbeing.

Personalise Your Space

A room that reflects your personality is far easier to relax in than a blank, institutional one. The challenge in student accommodation is doing this without causing damage, but there are plenty of deposit-safe ways to make your space feel like home.

Photographs and memories. Printing photos and displaying them on a pinboard, strung along fairy lights, or placed in frames on your desk are among the most effective ways to bring familiarity into a new room.

Lighting. The overhead lighting in most student rooms is rarely flattering. A warm bedside lamp or a string of fairy lights can completely change the atmosphere.

Soft furnishings. A rug, a throw, and a few cushions make a significant difference to how a room feels. Bold bedding is one of the easiest and most affordable ways to inject personality.

Plants. Low-maintenance options such as cacti or snake plants bring life into a room and can actively reduce stress. If you’re worried about upkeep, a faux plant works just as well visually.

Scent. Reed diffusers or plug-in fragrance options (open flames are not permitted in student accommodation) can make a room feel familiar and calming. Bringing a scent from home during the early weeks can provide genuine comfort.

Build New Routines

Homesickness often intensifies in unstructured time. Establishing consistent sleep patterns, regular mealtimes, and a set study schedule provides stability that makes an unfamiliar environment feel more manageable. Even small routines, like the route you walk to lectures or the day you do your laundry, can help a new environment start to feel settled.

Stay Connected

Regular contact with friends and family at home is important. However, long daily calls can sometimes intensify homesickness rather than ease it. Scheduling shorter, regular check-ins gives you something to look forward to whilst encouraging you to engage with your new surroundings too.

Invest in the Community Around You

Social connection is consistently the fastest route through homesickness. Keeping your door open, joining a society, attending events, or simply making tea for your flatmates are small steps that build meaningful relationships over time.

Fresh properties are designed with the community in mind. Regular residents’ events, shared social spaces, and on-site teams who genuinely know their residents help students feel part of something from day one, making the process of settling in feel far less daunting.

A Note for Parents

If your child is struggling, the most helpful thing you can do is listen and normalise. Encouraging them to engage with their new environment, rather than coming home at the first opportunity, gives them the space to build the connections and routines that will help them settle. Most students find that, given a little time, university accommodation starts to feel like a second home.

In Summary

Homesickness is a natural part of starting university, and it passes. By personalising your space, building routines, staying connected in a balanced way, and investing in the community around you, your student flat can become far more than somewhere to sleep. With the right environment and support, it becomes a genuine home.

Moving to Brighton for university marks an exciting step towards independence. For students, it represents new experiences and opportunities. For parents, ensuring their child’s safety naturally remains a priority.

Brighton has established itself as a secure environment for students, with over 21,000 university students and a safety index of 61.2. The city has invested approximately £300,000 in dedicated student safety initiatives. This guide outlines the practical steps students can take to stay safe whilst making the most of Brighton.

Choosing Secure Accommodation

Accommodation choice significantly impacts student safety and wellbeing. Purpose-built student accommodation provides comprehensive security features that private rentals often cannot match, and for students new to Brighton, that peace of mind matters from day one.

Fresh offers two purpose-built properties in Brighton, each designed with student safety and community at its core.

Pavilion Point is located in the heart of the city, within easy reach of both the University of Brighton and the University of Sussex. It offers an on-site residents’ team, secure building access, CCTV, and contents insurance included as standard alongside a vibrant community of students settling into Brighton life together.

Promenade Student Living, situated at Providence Place in Brighton city centre, is a brand-new property that opened in 2024. Just a nine-minute walk from the University of Brighton’s City Campus, it features 24-hour secure access, on-site management and maintenance teams, 24/7 CCTV, and contents insurance included within all-inclusive rent. For students who value both security and community, its outdoor courtyards, study spaces, and TV lounge provide safe social spaces without needing to venture far from home.

Notably, all Fresh properties, including both Brighton developments, are registered members of the Safe Space Alliance, a national network of venues committed to providing a safe environment for students and young people. Both properties’ central locations also mean students are close to well-lit, busy streets, reliable public transport, and Brighton’s wider network of night-time safety services.

Night-Time Safety Support Services

Brighton has developed robust support systems specifically for students during evening activities.

Safe Space Brighton Located at St Paul’s Church on West Street, Safe Space Brighton operates every Friday and Saturday from 11pm to 3:45am. This free service provides first aid, a safe environment, phone charging, and support for getting home safely. Contact: 07979104406.

Night Safety Marshals Trained marshals patrol West Street and the city centre, working directly with Sussex Police to identify vulnerable individuals and provide immediate assistance.

Safe Space Sussex App This app helps students locate nearby safe spaces when they feel unsafe or become separated from friends.

Practical Safety Measures

Before Going Out: Planning ahead reduces risk. Check transport times, charge your phone fully, inform flatmates of plans, and familiarise yourself with your route home. The University of Brighton provides free personal alarms at Student Information Desks.

Awareness of Spiking: Spiking remains a concern that Brighton venues and Sussex Police actively address. Never leave drinks unattended, avoid accepting drinks from strangers, and remain vigilant about vapes. Many clubs offer free StopTopps anti-spiking drink covers.

If you suspect spiking, alert venue staff immediately, seek medical attention, and report to Sussex Police.

Getting Home Safely: Use well-lit main routes, travel with friends, and trust your instincts. Only use registered taxis or established ride-share applications. Contact Sussex Police on 101 (non-emergency) or 999 (urgent situations).

Campus and Accommodation Security

Students living at Pavilion Point or Promenade Student Living benefit from on-site residents’ teams, contents insurance included within their rent, and access to Fresh’s free 24/7 Student Assistance Programme,  a confidential helpline provided in partnership with Health Assured covering mental health, personal safety, and general wellbeing support. Mark possessions with UV pens (free from university security offices) and ensure you are familiar with your building’s emergency procedures on arrival.

Supporting Student Independence and Safety

At Fresh, we understand that feeling safe enables students to fully embrace university life. Pavilion Point brings together everything a student needs to feel secure in Brighton, a central location, an on-site residents’ team, all-inclusive bills, contents insurance, and membership of the Safe Space Alliance, all within a vibrant student community designed to help new arrivals settle in with confidence.

Brighton offers students an exceptional environment for learning and personal growth. By choosing secure accommodation, understanding available support services, and taking sensible precautions, students can enjoy everything this vibrant city offers from day one.

For more information, visit the University of Brighton safety page or the Brighton student safety guidance. In emergencies, always contact 999.

The partners behind the student-living scheme in Leith, Edinburgh – independent living-led developer HUB, specialist sustainable investor Bridges Fund Management (“Bridges”) and equity investor Housing Growth Partnership (HGP) – are delighted to announce that Fresh has been chosen to operate the scheme. This follows the news of the partners securing a £79m development loan from BGO last year. Formerly ‘Shore Station’, the site is to be now known as Mantle Yard.

Fresh, which has been appointed to mobilise, market, lease and operate the 604-bed scheme, has fifteen years of experience in third-party management, with over 20,000 units across a range of rental living tenures currently within its remit across 27 cities and towns. Fresh currently operates over 60 student-living schemes, including one in central Edinburgh.

Mantle Yard, designed by Edinburgh-based Michael Laird Architects, is a former gasworks and naval yard being transformed into the largest single-site student living scheme in the Scottish capital. The site’s heritage and role it played in lighting up Edinburgh when it was a gasworks inspired the name Mantle Yard; a mantle is an element of gas lights that were used across the city.

Mantle Yard is campus-style student living with six buildings around a landscaped central square and courtyard gardens, within walking distance of The Shore, in the heart of the sought-after Leith neighbourhood. Shared internal amenity spaces include study rooms, library, lounge, TV room, kitchen, gym and yoga spaces, with abundant cycle storage prioritising wellbeing and collaboration.

With construction well underway, led by McAleer & Rushe, completion is targeted ahead of the 2027/28 academic year.

Sarah Willoughby-Parsons, Head of Asset Management at HUB said:

“Mantle Yard is a truly exciting project for HUB, Bridges, HGP and Edinburgh. With demand for high-quality student accommodation continuing to grow, we’re proud to be delivering a scheme that not only meets that need but does so with ambition, design excellence, and a deep respect for the local context. Fresh brings a wealth of operational expertise, and we’re confident that it will help make Mantle Yard a thriving and well-managed community for students.”

Sam Scott, Managing Director at Fresh, said:

“We are delighted to be appointed to play a key role in bringing Mantle Yard to market. We believe Mantle Yard will provide a unique offer into the Edinburgh market with the growing popularity of Leith, giving the students a new location, a village within a city feel. The design is superb with students needs well catered for with exceptional study and amenity facilities meaning they have everything they need in their home. Students are immediately accessible to the city centre and the universities with a direct tram line giving them a complete experience of student life in Scotland’s capital.”

Choosing student accommodation is about more than finding a place to live. For parents, it’s about safety, support and knowing exactly what you are paying for. For students, it’s about independence without unnecessary stress.

Fresh (Student Living) is designed to take much of the uncertainty out of student renting. This guide breaks down what’s included in the rent, what isn’t and what day-to-day life looks like, so families can make a confident, informed decision.

All Bills Included, No Hidden Costs

One of the biggest advantages of living with Fresh is our all-inclusive student rent. This means your child’s monthly payments cover:

  • Electricity
  • Water
  • Heating
  • Wifi and broadband

There’s no need to set up utility accounts, split bills with flatmates or worry about seasonal price increases. For parents, this offers clarity and predictability when budgeting across the academic year.

On-Site Support and Maintenance

Private renting can leave students responsible for chasing landlords or arranging repairs. With Fresh, support is built in

  • Maintenance issues are reported directly to the on-site team
  • Repairs are handled professionally and promptly
  • Staff are available to help with practical questions or concerns

This removes a lot of pressure from students and offers parents peace of mind.

Fully Furnished and Ready from Day One

Fresh student living apartments come fully furnished, helping students settle in quickly and comfortably. Typically, this includes:

  • A bed and mattress
  • Desk and chair for studying
  • Wardrobe and storage
  • Seating and dining space
  • A fully equipped kitchen

There’s no need to organise furniture or make large upfront purchases before moving in.

A Safe and Secure Place to Live

Safety is understandably a top concern when your child moves away from home. Fresh Student Living buildings are purpose-built with security in mind and include:

  • Secure entry systems
  • CCTV in communal areas
  • A dedicated on-site residents’ team

Students can live independently, while parents can feel reassured that support is close by if it’s ever needed.

Built-In Student Community

Moving to a new city can feel overwhelming. Fresh helps students settle in by creating a strong sense of community.

  • Regular residents’ events
  • Social and wellbeing activities
  • Opportunities to meet other students naturally

This can be especially valuable for students who don’t yet know anyone locally.

What Isn’t Included in the Rent?

To keep things clear and transparent, there are a few costs that aren’t covered:

  • Food and groceries
  • Laundry costs  (Facilities are available on site and are pay-as-you-go)
  • A TV licence, if watching or streaming live TV or BBC iPlayer
  • Parking, which may be available at some locations for an additional fee

Understanding this upfront helps you plan realistically. For more detailed information on payments, deposits, and tenancy terms, you can find answers to common questions in our Rent & Tenancy FAQs.

Why Parents Choose Fresh

Parents often choose Fresh (Student Living) because it offers:

  • Predictable, all-inclusive student rental costs
  • Purpose-built, secure accommodation
  • On-site support and maintenance
  • A balance of independence and reassurance

It removes many of the uncertainties that come with private renting.

In Summary

Fresh (Student Living) provides an all-inclusive student rent approach to our accommodation that prioritises clarity, safety, and support. With bills included, furnished apartments, and on-site teams, parents can feel confident their child is living in a secure, well-managed environment, while students enjoy the independence and community that come with it.

Whether you’re a college or university student, there’s a high chance you’ll have coursework to do. Coursework is generally the larger body of work you submit where you have a period of time to focus on the work which can be presented in a written or practical format.

If you have multiple pieces of coursework assignments and feel anxious about getting started, you’re not alone. In this article, we’ll dive into why some students struggle with anxiety over coursework, how you can handle those feelings and where to get support if it all feels a bit too much.

Can coursework cause anxiety?

In short, yes. Coursework can definitely be a source of anxiety, even in individuals who don’t tend to get anxious. They may have high resilience and an absence of any pre-existing stress or mental health conditions, but the pressures and stresses cause a lot of anxiety. Coursework anxiety doesn’t discriminate and is a very common part of student life.

Why do students get anxiety around coursework?

Much like exam stress, coursework can be a source of anxiety and worry for students. This usually stems from:

– Pressure to complete coursework to a high standard

– Leaving coursework close to a deadline

– Having multiple coursework assignments to complete at once

– Not having the resources to complete coursework

– Uncertainty or a lack of guidance

– Competition among peers

– A combination of the above

What are the signs you’re anxious about coursework?

Coursework anxiety often presents itself in the same way common anxiety would. Anxiety over coursework often manifests itself through:

– Procrastination

– Avoidance

– Feelings of dread

– Irritability

– “Going blank”

– Poor sleep

– Poor appetite

– Racing thoughts (rumination)

How to manage anxiety around coursework and academic tasks

Coping with anxiety isn’t impossible. With the right mindset and willingness to work through it, you can reduce its effects on the mind and body in order to achieve success and complete your coursework to a high level.

1. Break big tasks into smaller ones

“Pick 5 essay title ideas” vs “write essay” is a way more manageable task to start with. The key is to have your overarching goal (writing the essay) and breaking it down into smaller ones you can tick off as you go:

– Pick your topic

– Gather resources related to the topic

– Write an outline and tackle each one relative to your deadline

2. Challenge all-or-nothing thinking

Student life shouldn’t be solely revolved around coursework, but it shouldn’t revolve entirely around purely socialising either. Balance is key, and both study and social time can coexist. Social wellbeing is key to your overall mental health, so when you are tackling your coursework, remember that you deserve time to be social or even engage in self-care time too!

3. Ask your tutor for support

Your tutor is there to support your academic success. It can be intimidating at first, but your tutor won’t know you’re struggling until you ask for support.

If it’s too intimidating to ask in person, consider writing an email outlining the particular areas you’re struggling with. You may even wish to ask if they have some spare time during term to have a one-to-one chat to go through any concerns around your coursework you may have. Remember, they were students once too, so they get the anxiety that comes with coursework.

4. Seek professional counselling support

Sometimes, anxiety can just get too much and be difficult to cope with. If you are experiencing unmanageable anxiety over your coursework, speak to your student counsellor, or ask your tutor if your college or university has a student assistance programme you can contact at a time to suit you.

5. Move on and come back later

If there’s a task that you’re really struggling with and need a break from, don’t be afraid to move on to a different one and come back to it later. It’s important to manage your time and tasks here to avoid procrastinating. Instead, make sure to take a small break and come back with a fresh perspective on the assignment.

6. Apply mindfulness to reduce coursework anxiety

Mindfulness is about focusing on the present moment and has numerous benefits in reducing anxiety. The same principle can be applied to your coursework. By focusing on the here and now, you can reduce worries about other coursework assignments and deadlines in order to focus on the task at hand.

How a student assistance programme can help reduce anxiety around coursework

Student assistance programmes (SAP) can support students by providing confidential, in-the-moment support for individuals struggling with their mental health. In the case of anxiety, HA | Wisdom Wellbeing has a wealth of qualified counsellors who help millions of students every year to build healthy coping strategies through goal-oriented counselling. Our service is available through the Wisdom app, where you can either telephone, video call or connect via live chat with one of our 3,000+ qualified counsellors for support. Plus, it’s available 24/7, 365 days a year, meaning when coursework anxiety strikes, you can contact HA | Wisdom Wellbeing at any time.

Conclusion

Coursework anxiety is very real, and you aren’t alone in your struggle. With the right planning, self-compassion and willingness to seek support, you can work through it and improve your resilience when coursework deadlines start rolling through.

Your student city guide to living in Bath

While life as a student should be mainly focused on your studies, we don’t want you to forget that there’s more to it! We advise our students to take full advantage of the city they are studying in whilst they are there. Below we will talk about a variety of student favourite places you can visit in the home of one of our top student accommodations, The Brook, in Bath.

Focusing on your studies

Nobody likes commutes, so most students opt for accommodations within a short distance to their university. Having a short commute makes the stress of daily student life lesser, having to worry less about getting to your lectures in the mornings! And spending less time just getting to and from, leaving more room for studying and fun activities. Our accommodation in Bath, The Brook is a short bus journey to The Uni of Bath, Bath Spa university and Bath College. Also, if you love Bath but want to study in Bristol, we are just a relatively short train ride away from The Uni of Bristol too!

Places to study

While The Brook and your University provide study spaces (head over to our website to check out our spaces and amenities built especially for our students) you may want a variety of spaces to study in! Well, Bath has plenty:

  • The Virgil Building in the city centre is a student hub with plenty of study space

  • Bath central library with free Wi-Fi and Free computers to use you can’t go wrong, you can even borrow a tablet for free and make use of the photocopying facilities! You can also borrow books at the self-serve kiosks

  • Society Café, Forum Coffee House, Hunter & Sons and Boston Tea Party are just a handful of Cafes in Bath that offer good facilities for working in!

Nightlife

Exam season has a way of creeping up quietly, until suddenly your calendar is packed, your notes have taken over every surface, and even your busiest group chats fall silent. Feeling pressure during exams is a completely normal part of student life, but how you manage that pressure can make all the difference between feeling overwhelmed and feeling prepared.

Success during exam season isn’t about sacrificing sleep or studying non-stop. It’s about building habits that help you stay focused, balanced and confident throughout the revision period. With the right approach and the right environment around you, exams can feel far more manageable than expected.

Here are some Fresh-approved tips to help you stay organised, protect your wellbeing and head into exam season feeling in control.

Create a realistic study plan

When it comes to revision, ambition is helpful – but realism is essential. Many students fall into the trap of creating intense study schedules that simply aren’t sustainable, leading to frustration and burnout within days.

Instead, break your revision down into smaller, structured chunks. Studying for 12 hours straight isn’t productive, but focused sessions with clear goals are far more effective, making space for your to retain important information rather than cramming it all in at the eleventh hour. Try:

  • 45-minute study blocks
  • 10–15 minute breaks
  • A clear end time each evening

One widely recommended method is the Pomodoro Technique, which focuses on short bursts of deep concentration followed by intentional rest. Studying for 25-45 minutes at a time, followed by a short break, helps maintain focus while preventing mental fatigue.

Planning your workload across several weeks also removes the pressure of last-minute cramming. Setting achievable daily goals, rather than vague plans to “revise everything”, gives you a sense of progress and momentum. Importantly, scheduling a clear endpoint to your study day allows your brain to switch off and recover, helping you return the next day feeling refreshed rather than exhausted.

Revision works best when it becomes consistent, not overwhelming.

Use your space wisely

Your surroundings play a bigger role in productivity than you might realise. Studying in the same position for hours can quickly lead to distraction or loss of motivation, which is why changing your environment can be surprisingly effective.

Purpose-built student accommodation offers flexibility that many students benefit from during exams. Moving between your bedroom desk, shared study areas or communal spaces creates mental variety and helps prevent burnout. Even small environmental changes – like opening a window, adjusting lighting or clearing your workspace – can improve concentration and reset your mindset.

Creating a dedicated study setup also signals to your brain that it’s time to focus. When your space feels organised and comfortable, settling into revision becomes easier, helping you maintain productive habits throughout exam season.

Don’t isolate yourself

Although exam preparation often feels like a solo challenge, studying entirely alone isn’t always the most effective approach. Collaborative revision can improve understanding while also easing feelings of isolation that tend to build during busy academic periods.

Studying with friends or flatmates introduces accountability and structure. Explaining concepts to someone else reinforces your own understanding, while group quizzes or discussion sessions can highlight knowledge gaps you might otherwise miss. Even silent study sessions where everyone works independently in the same room can provide motivation simply through shared focus.

Equally important are the social moments between revision sessions. A shared coffee break or quick catch-up can reduce stress levels and remind you that everyone around you is navigating the same experience. Remember, you’re not alone.

Look after the basics

Sleep. Water. Food. Movement.

They sound simple, but during exam season, the fundamentals of wellbeing often slip first. Late nights, skipped meals, and too much caffeine may feel unavoidable, but they can quickly impact focus, memory and mood.

Sleep plays a crucial role in consolidating information, meaning revision completed after proper rest is far more effective than studying through the night. Staying hydrated and maintaining regular meals helps stabilise energy levels, preventing the mid-afternoon crashes many students experience.

Simple routines – such as cooking easy meals in your flat, maintaining a consistent bedtime or taking short movement breaks – provide stability during an otherwise intense period. These habits don’t just support your health; they directly improve academic performance too.

Always remember that, although exam season is intense, it’s only temporary. With the right balance, you can keep it on lock without burning out. And, as a Fresh resident, you can access our Student Assistance Programme whenever you need that extra bit of support.

Things to do in Liverpool to improve your wellbeing

Moving to a new city as a student is exciting, but it can also be overwhelming. New routines, new faces, and the pressure to balance studying with everything else can take its toll. That’s why looking after your wellbeing at university is just as important as settling into lectures and deadlines.

Liverpool is such a wonderful and diverse place, with its mix of green spaces, coastlines, independent shops, and affordable activities. It offers plenty of ways for students to slow down and reset.

If you’re living in student accommodation in Liverpool with Fresh Living, many of these wellbeing activities are right on your doorstep.

Try a Floating Sauna at Wyld Sauna

For something a little different, Wyld Sauna offers a floating sauna experience for just £10 an hour. It’s a brilliant way to disconnect from screens, warm up and give your mind a break. Cold water, heat therapy and calm surroundings can do wonders for stress, especially during those busy study periods.

This is a great option if you’re living at Benson Yard or The Lantern, both within easy reach of Liverpool’s waterfront.

Walk Around Sefton Park

Sometimes, the simplest wellbeing habits are the most effective. Sefton Park is one of Liverpool’s most loved green spaces, and it’s completely free. Whether it’s a long walk, a solo reset with headphones in or a catch-up with friends, spending time here helps clear your head. Perfect for students living near Lark Lane or South Liverpool.

Visit Formby Beach and Nearby Coastlines

Liverpool’s coastline is one of its hidden wellbeing perks. A trip to Formby Beach or other nearby coastal spots is perfect when you need space, fresh air, and a change of scenery.
If you don’t have a car, Formby is easily accessible by train from Liverpool Central. Long walks, sea air, and open views can help reset your nervous system and put busy weeks into perspective, especially during study breaks or weekends.

Wander Albert Dock and Pier Head

For something closer to home, Albert Dock and Pier Head are perfect for a related walk with plenty to see. Historic buildings, water views and open spaces make this a calming place to explore, especially during quieter mornings or evenings.
